Shared Memory

One body of knowledge for your agents. Claude Code and Codex search and cite the same sources you choose, so what one can look up, the other can too.

Shared Memory is not in the public build yet. Ask for early access below.

What it does today

  • Choose the sources. Pick folders of text on your Mac to index for your agents.
  • Shared between providers. Claude Code and Codex retrieve from the same sources you grant, whichever model you are talking to.
  • Cited answers to search. Agents get passages with their source and location, not a summary to trust blindly.
  • Check it yourself. Search the index, open a read-only preview, or reveal the file in Finder.
  • Local indexing. Indexing makes no outbound request. Agents you allow may send excerpts to their model provider.

How you stay in control

  • You grant access. Agents see a source only in the projects and clients you allow.
  • Stop, disconnect, purge. Stop indexing, disconnect a source, or purge its index data. Your original files are never changed.
  • Export. Export sources and indexed records as readable text with their references.

Where it's going

Direction: every agent you use draws on the same knowledge, under the access you control.
